The Associate Director, Capability Lead is a key leadership role responsible for managing and overseeing the system delivery lifecycle within the Digital Workplace capability area. This role involves leadership of multiple teams, managing third party suppliers, ensuring Agile delivery, and aligning IT services with business needs and strategy.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Support, Maintenance and Development of the systems in their area of capability
- Provide leadership for the development, maintenance and support for the Bank’s business systems within a capability area
- Co-create a consistent ‘best in class’ support, maintenance and development practice using modern Agile principles and practices
- Transform the internal delivery group to a metrics based, lean start-up organisation working closely with the business and Product Owner
- Define success criteria, maintain backlog, plan effectively and maintain delivery timeline
- Ensure effective quality assurance and overall integrity of Support and Development
- Manage supply and demand to align with expectations
- Ensure platforms meet the Bank’s SLAs for Production service
- Design and implement service level reporting for key business stakeholders
- Manage interactions with Product Teams and stakeholders to ensure delivery backlogs cater for operational support requirements
- Contribute to IT Policies and Standards and ensure adherence
- Manage risks through IT Risk management framework
- Improve IT general control landscape including preventative controls and automation
- Lead and manage teams in a hybrid staff/outsourced structure
- Manage third party contributions within Agile principles
- Plan, forecast and manage budget
- Identify and implement modernisation and efficiency opportunities through continuous improvement and automation
- Report on progress and delivery cadence of each team
- Create a culture to eliminate technical debt and prioritize backlogs
- Coach, mentor and direct teams in Agile delivery practices
- Create a culture of quality and user focus
- Guide Product Owner and stakeholders on Scrum and Agile principles
- Manage staff engagement, recruitment, compensation, performance, coaching and development
- Champion and role model the Bank’s Behavioural Competencies and Corporate Behaviours
Requirements
- Strong judgement skills at a leadership level and track record of strong solution-orientation and problem-solving
- Experienced manager of people, finance, processes and systems
- Proven ability to influence and work well with others, with the personal authority to effectively harness the cooperation of peers across departments
- Political awareness and diplomatic skills, in order to influence a wide range of stakeholders
- Very strong team player able to work with and manage through others in a matrix and collegiate style
- Excellent active listening skills and interpersonal and communication skills in English to communicate with a wide variety of people at all levels in the Bank
- Experience of working in a complex multi-national, multi-team, Agile at scale Developments environment
- Agile practitioner certification, e.g. PMI-ACP or equivalent
- Experience of running maintenance and support teams in line with Agile principles
- The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst their peers in IT and key stakeholders within the business service in which they operate
- Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling support, maintenance and development
- Must have exceptional communication, organisation, and time management skills
- The ability to coach the internal team to reach their highest potential using best practices
