Senior Protection Officer-Child Protection

The Senior Protection Officer-Child Protection supervises and monitors child protection activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives. The role involves developing workplans, capacity building, coordination with partners, and promoting safeguarding principles in humanitarian contexts.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and monitoring the implementation activities of SHLS and information dissemination activities on Child Protection in alignment with project objectives.
• Develop monthly and quarterly workplans for child protection activities with field team.
• Support the Protection Officer -CP to ensure effective internal integration and harmonized workplans across activities in collaboration with sector leads.
• Coordinate with relevant focal person and participate in regular team meetings, coordination meetings and monitoring activities.
• Develop capacity building plans to continuously strengthen the capacities of staff, partners and community volunteers.
• Deliver tailored training for child protection teams and non-protection sector teams together with Senior Child Protection Specialist.
• Ensure activities are inclusive, gender-sensitive, and accessible to children with disabilities.
• Collaborate with community members, local authorities, and partner organizations to strengthen community participation in child protection activities.
• Supervise and provide technical support to case workers in using CPIMS+, digital forms and workflows when documenting case management processes, from identification and registration, to assessment, case planning, referrals, tracking service provision, and case closure.
• Provide child protection staff, partners and community volunteers and non-protection sector teams with the tools, resources and guidance necessary to implement activities in line with humanitarian principles and relevant to their technical areas.
• Work closely with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team to develop a context-specific child protection M&E framework and tools for quality program delivery.
• Work closely with Supply Chain team on procurement process related to the child protection activities.
• Promote safeguarding, PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), and Do-No-Harm principles in all activities, ensuring adherence to confidentiality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree on Social Science, social work and Education.
• Ability to work and adapt in Emergency and Development context.
• At least 3-5 years of managerial/supervisory work experience in child protection in preventing part and education programming in emergency or humanitarian contexts.
• A strong understanding of Child Protection concepts, including minimum standards and guiding principles for working with children.
• Commitment to promoting the safety and well-being of children, preventing and responding to all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence, and ensuring that every child grows up in a protective and supportive environment.
• Adhere organization’s Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct, and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) standards at all times.
• Knowledge of child rights, child protection standards, and case management including CPIMS+.
• Understanding of local context, sensitivities, and needs pertains to child protection issues.
• Having background in building community participation in emergency response with a flexible approach and the ability to adapt behavior to different situations.
• Frequent travel to field locations
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups and individuals, including beneficiaries, colleagues, and external partners.
• Flexible and patient in adapting to evolving program needs.
• Able to work independently and creatively solve day-to-day challenges as they arise.
