The Editorial Officer will lead the editorial line for the Refugee.Info Italy platform, producing and updating multimedia content, managing social media and website, and driving information campaigns on migration and asylum. The role involves content creation, social media and web analytics, and coordination with project and technical teams to support refugees and migrants in Italy with accurate information.

Responsibilities

  • Develop bespoke, engaging multimedia content for Refugee.Info Italy digital platforms, applying Signpost editorial standards.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of the information campaign on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, including the dedicated site section and related content.
  • Work with the R.I. Project Manager and the R.I. Moderation Lead and moderators to identify information needs, develop and implement an editorial calendar, and plan ads campaigns.
  • Research training opportunities, courses, and initiatives relevant to migrants and refugees for publication on Refugee.Info channels.
  • Manage and maintain the website and social media channels of Refugee.Info Italy under supervision.
  • Build audiences for ads, promote content through ads campaigns, and maintain a solid online presence.
  • Coordinate with the Signpost technical and development team to ensure the smooth operation and development of Refugee.Info platforms.
  • Participate in R.I., IRC Italy and Signpost team meetings.
  • Analyse Refugee.Info social media growth, engagement, and audience behaviour using analytical tools, and keep editorial teams updated.
  • Produce quarterly KPIs reports, monitor web and social media KPIs, flag critical issues, and recommend improvements to the editorial teams' digital and marketing strategy.
  • Monitor Google Analytics, Zendesk Explore, and Meta/Facebook analytics data to draw insights.

Requirements

  • Degree in communication, development communication, social sciences, law, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • High proficiency in technology and software (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, Google products, social media platforms).
  • Proficiency in infographic software and/or experience in graphic design.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the field of asylum and migration, media and communications, preferably with an NGO.
  • Knowledge of services, procedures, and legal frameworks relevant to the migration and asylum context in Italy.
  • Excellent command of Italian and English, both spoken and written.
  • Strong collaborator with effective interpersonal and analytical skills, able to work seamlessly across cultures and organizational units.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Genuine commitment to migration, asylum, and protection issues.
  • Ability to work remotely as part of a multicultural team distributed across Italy.
