See your match score & applyThe Content and Social Media Officer supports the delivery of the country and global communications strategy for IRC’s response to the war in Ukraine. The role involves managing social media channels, producing content for various audiences, supporting media visits, and collaborating with multiple teams to enhance IRC's communications impact.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an expert on IRC’s operations in Ukraine, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of programming and contextual developments.
- Identify unique storytelling opportunities and collaborate closely with the Regional Content and Digital Officer to capture compelling stories for both local and global audiences.
- Lead in-country digital engagement by managing and growing the IRC Ukraine social media.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase reach, engagement, and follower growth, while monitoring performance metrics and adjusting tactics accordingly.
- Develop and maintain monthly content planning and calendar.
- Curate original content including reports, articles, social media posts, multimedia materials, and other communications products for IRC Ukraine social media and global IRC channels.
- Ensure all content aligns with IRC’s tone of voice, messaging and values.
- Develop a bank of unique impact stories and case studies in text, photo, and video formats, showcasing the IRC’s response in Ukraine.
- Support content collection by coordinating the planning, production, and post-production of content trips within Ukraine.
- Work closely with the Ukraine Communications Manager to ensure donor requirements are reflected and met through digital content and engagement.
- Monitor social media pages of implementing partners, investigate opportunities for joint social media representation, and support such collaboration.
- Support local and international media visits to program activities in coordination with the Field, Program, and Partnerships teams.
- Support the Global Communications team in the development of campaign content.
- Support other program-related communications as requested.
- Regularly share and discuss timely, accurate and relevant information in local languages with communities about access and eligibility to service, expected staff behaviors and code of conduct, community feedback, safeguarding mechanism and how to use them.
- Identify and provide communities with opportunities to participate in and guide programs from assessment and design through to monitoring and evaluation.
- Establish or promote the formal feedback mechanism to capture, monitor, respond to and act on feedback and complaints from communities.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in international NGO communications.
- Previous experience in media would be an asset.
- Skilled in capturing and curating impactful content in challenging environments.
- Knowledge of storytelling, social media platforms/communications channels.
- Knowledge of video and photo editing tools, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe After Effects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and grow social media channels, particularly Facebook, through strategic content planning, audience engagement, and performance tracking.
- Able to build positive relationships and work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment and to meet crisis communications and time limitations under pressure.
- Able to work both independently, under minimal supervision, and cross-functionally within a team.
- Fluent in Ukrainian and English, both oral and written, enabling effective communication with local communities, partners, and global stakeholders.
