The Case Manager supports migrants in the Integration Programme in Costa Rica by conducting assessments, managing cases, and facilitating access to services such as housing, health, education, and socioeconomic inclusion. The role involves coordination with various stakeholders and ensuring accurate documentation of case management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening assessments for individuals enrolling in the Integration Programme to determine needs and integration pathways.
  • Use the MIMOSA system to input and track case details, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Conduct interviews to gather information, assess situations, and explain integration processes and services.
  • Complete data entry in Kobo and Excel accurately and timely.
  • Provide follow-up services throughout the integration process, ensuring individuals are informed and supported.
  • Manage cases by coordinating with teams and stakeholders for successful integration or return.
  • Analyze cases to identify needs, challenges, and interventions.
  • Liaise with translators to ensure clear communication with migrants.
  • Collaborate with other case managers to share information and best practices.
  • Communicate and coordinate with IOM offices in countries of origin for relevant support.
  • Coordinate with AVR case managers when beneficiaries opt for Assisted Voluntary Return.
  • Provide community-based support for access to housing, health, education, socioeconomic inclusion, and community life.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of case management activities following IOM guidelines.
  • Perform other relevant functions as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Conduct travel on duty to border areas or programme locations as required.

Requirements

  • Professional in social work, social sciences or related career, with at least one completed Bachelor Degree.
  • General studies in gender studies, migration, case management, peace and conflict studies, will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in working with vulnerable populations.
  • Fluency in English is required (at least B2 level).
  • Fluency in any other language (French, Arabic, Russian, Mandarin) is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in case management in humanitarian settings.
  • Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Previous experience in protection activities in related intervention areas is an advantage.
  • Experience in coordinating with institutional and UN counterparts.
