See your match score & applyThe Economic Security Generalist 2 is responsible for implementing and monitoring the ICRC Economic security programmes and resources in Oromia, analyzing the economic security situation, designing interventions, and reporting on programme progress under supervision. The role involves coordination with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring project implementation aligns with objectives and budgets.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to multi-disciplinary needs assessments and conducts specific needs assessments in the area of responsibility using standard EcoSec approaches and tools.
- Maintains up to date information on the economic security situation and contributes to data analysis concerning livelihoods, agriculture, markets, security, social, political aspects.
- Coordinates communication and planning with other assistance departments including protection.
- Collects data using household economy approach to identify economic security gaps and develop scenarios.
- Contributes to identification of appropriate response options and assesses feasibility of cash or in-kind aid.
- Contributes to market assessments and data interpretation for response design.
- Provides advisory inputs on assessment team composition and coordinates assessment actions.
- Supports participatory approaches during field visits and stakeholder interactions.
- Contributes to response analysis of EcoSec interventions, risk assessment, and mitigation.
- Participates in selection of priority areas and formulation of implementation plans.
- Contributes to drafting proposals for resilience projects including indicators, outputs, plans, and budgets.
- Organizes and supervises beneficiary selection minimizing conflict risks.
- Designs beneficiary registration methods and integrates accountability best practices.
- Supports EcoSec Delegate in meetings.
- Plans EcoSec activities and ensures project implementation aligns with objectives, timeframe, and budget.
- Organizes logistics and manages distribution teams.
- Contributes to annual planning exercises regarding economic security situation and program implementation.
- Conducts regular monitoring of EcoSec interventions and supports monitoring teams.
- Participates in project review and evaluation planning and implementation.
- Reports on program progress and contextual aspects to supervisors.
- Writes field trip, activity reports, and meeting minutes.
- Compiles statistical data and submits monthly reports.
- Ensures timely administrative work and compliance with procedures.
- Maintains program files including proposals, budgets, contracts, and payment lists.
- Supports coaching and motivation of volunteers and assistants.
- Coordinates training needs and capacity-building activities.
- Interprets and translates between English and Afan Oromo as required.
- Registers and treats information accurately and confidentially.
- Follows up on work-related correspondence and maintains knowledge of delegation objectives and contacts.
- Reports events impacting ICRC activities and advises on context-related information.
- Participates in meetings linked to program implementation.
- Acts as reference point during supervisor absences.
- Represents ICRC appropriately in activities and meetings.
- Takes responsibility for professional learning and development.
- Participates in other EcoSec programs based on operational priorities.
- Supports other ICRC departments and integrates Protection subjects in activities.
Requirements
- University degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Rural Development, Agriculture extension, Development studies, Sociology, Veterinary science or related field.
- Good command (spoken and written) of English and Afan Oromo.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a similar field of activity.
