The internship offers an opportunity to support the Data Processing Unit of the Victims Participation and Reparations Section by assisting with data input, database maintenance, report preparation, and other related tasks. The role involves handling sensitive materials related to serious international crimes and contributing to the processing of victim applications at the International Criminal Court.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the input of confidential data into electronic and/or hard‑copy systems, including scanning, photocopying, and filing.
  • Help maintain the database by identifying inaccuracies or missing information.
  • Extract information (e.g., statistics, tables) to support the preparation of internal reports.
  • Redact materials for external communication.
  • Support team members by preparing summaries, conducting advanced searches, and generating reports using the Section’s electronic tools.
  • Assist in the testing of new IT tools for improved data processing and relevant research into solutions.
  • Attend meetings or presentations when requested and prepare minutes.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed, including occasional support to other units within the Section.

Requirements

  • Must have a first level university degree from an accredited university or be in the final stages of relevant studies.
  • Candidates are expected to have a very good record of academic performance.
  • Internship placements focus on candidates in the early stages of their professional careers; practical experience is not an essential prerequisite for selection.
  • Applicants must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience to be considered for an internship.
  • Able to adapt to a multicultural and multilingual working environment.
  • Good computer skills; knowledge in data processing / database handling and knowledge of Power BI or ArcGis would be considered an asset.
  • Possesses strong teamwork skills (listens, consults and communicates proactively).
  • Other important qualities are discretion, reliability, intellectual rigor, precision, perseverance, creativity, co-operative spirit and integrity.
  • Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, French or English, and working knowledge of the other are required.
  • Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
  • Applicants must be able to support themselves financially as the internship is unfunded.
