See your match score & applyThe Principal Adviser supports the Managing Director of the SEMED region by advising on management, strategic, and operational topics. The role involves ensuring effective management of the MD's region activities, supporting cross-sectoral and institutional issues, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the Bank's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Advise and support the Managing Director on management, strategic and operational topics related to the MD’s countries of operation within the region.
- Support the MD on cross-sectoral and institutional issues spanning the MD’s region.
- Ensure effective and efficient management of activities in the MD’s region, including quality of output and day-to-day functioning of Business Groups.
- Coordinate with other departments/units in the Bank and external stakeholders as delegated by the MD.
- Manage administrative operations within the MD’s Front Office including supervisory role of budget functions and HR activities.
- Work with Regional Directors and Heads of Countries to address complex or sensitive issues.
- Prepare regular portfolio/pipeline development reporting and analysis for the MD.
- Monitor region’s performance against scorecard targets and liaise with relevant departments to address concerns.
- Represent the MD at committees, meetings and events as required.
- Review and brief the MD on internal documentation and ensure quality control of Bank documents.
- Prepare briefing packages, presentations, marketing documentation, speeches and interviews for the MD.
- Organise and facilitate regional meetings and events such as off-site events and team retreats.
- Participate in Bank-wide discussions on strategic issues of the region.
- Ensure the MD is informed on policy dialogue initiatives and country or sector strategies impacting the region.
- Develop and implement policy and strategic initiatives within the Business Group.
- Manage SSF allocation for TC projects in the region and contribute to SSF planning.
- Assist in business development presentations and events.
- Contribute to resolution of HR-related issues within the Team and assist MDs with HR processing.
- Contribute to implementation and monitoring of engagement action plans for Business Groups.
- Assist the MD in business planning and budget negotiations.
Requirements
- Relevant university degree.
- Principal level, relevant investment, finance or policy experience coupled with sound understanding of the Bank’s mandate, processes and policies.
- Sound understanding and good knowledge of issues related to banking and RO management.
- Strong leadership, management, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven business judgement and high ethical and professional standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and complete transactions/policy projects.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
- Excellent business report writing skills.
- Excellent English language skills (both written and oral).
- Relevant geographical experience.
