The MEAL Intern will support MEAL activities and data collection/analysis within the MEAL team through a learning and hands-on experience approach. The intern will be trained on MEAL practices and gradually apply knowledge to support ongoing activities including field visits, data collection, and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support in conducting the required field visits during the program team activities/distributions, ensuring comprehensive observation and collecting the required findings, and reflecting that into the ODMs/field visits report as well as doing the IPA distribution confirmation when required.
  • Support in doing the required data collection in both remote (by phone) and in-person (in the field) approaches, ensuring submission of high-quality data in addition to reflecting that into the assessment drafts if needed.
  • Supporting in data analysis using the required tools, such as Excel, as needed.
  • Supporting the accountability system in receiving complaints and feedback from beneficiaries during the field visits.
  • Follow data protection protocols and steps. Implement protocols for data protection, storage, sharing, and security in the area of responsibility to ensure data is stored safely and confidentially.
  • Support in reviewing and translating the MEAL surveys/assessments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by MEAL Team Leader. This may include supporting with MEAL activities such as verification, baseline/endline surveys, PDMs, PSMs, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Preference given to candidates with academic backgrounds in Engineering, Data/Information Management, Statistics, or other disciplines with strong analytical, data management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fresh graduates - the last three years - are encouraged to apply.
  • No experience is required as the position is for the last three years graduated.
  • Fluency in English is highly recommended.
  • Ability to collect/analyse data and perform data quality steps, with strong attention to detail.
  • Skill in MS Word, Excel, and general data literacy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (with a preference for strong facilitation and communications skills).
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to service provision or volunteering within their community.
  • Ability to follow and communicate instructions in relation to ethical principles, including accountability to affected populations principles.
  • Ability to discuss and follow priorities.
