As a versatile Facility and Safety Support Technician, you will play a key role in the management of the ATLAS facility during Long Shutdown 3 (2026–2030). You will liaise with detector teams, contribute to equipment logistics including waste management, and support occupational safety on site to ensure a smooth detector installation process.

Responsibilities

  • Manage waste at the ATLAS facility by supporting equipment removal and waste sorting, and ensuring the timely availability of skip containers.
  • Provide equipment owners with packaging materials and support transport and logistics to and from CERN.
  • Organize temporary storage for various consolidation projects in both surface and underground facilities.
  • Monitor ongoing site activities and promote safety awareness by carrying out safety tours, reporting observations, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure the availability and inspection of safety equipment, and participate in its maintenance.
  • Perform shifts in the ATLAS control room.
  • Carry out scaffolding inspections in the experimental area.
  • Provide versatile technical support to the ATLAS Safety team and the ATLAS Infrastructure team.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in facility management and logistics.
  • Proven hands-on experience with on-site technical activities.
  • Proven track record in occupational safety.
  • Initial experience in the maintenance and assembly of electromechanical systems.
  • Strong motivation to contribute to the operation of the ATLAS facility.
  • Technical certificate or general secondary education or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electromechanics, Logistics, Safety or a related field.
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Shift work, when required by the needs of the Organization.
  • Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • Given the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.
