The External Economic Relations Officer will provide technical and administrative support to ASEAN Bodies in the ASEAN Economic Community, assist in programme and project implementation funded by External Partners, support FTA negotiation processes, and facilitate requests from ASEAN Member States. The role requires coordination, reporting, and liaison with stakeholders to support ASEAN's economic cooperation objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and administrative support to the relevant ASEAN Bodies in the ASEAN Economic Community including preparing meeting documents, assisting in reporting, coordinating follow-up actions, and arranging meeting logistics.
  • Provide administrative support for appraisal, approval, and implementation of programmes and projects funded by External Partners including coordination, organising seminars/workshops, monitoring projects, and maintaining documentation.
  • Support FTA negotiation processes and implementation by liaising with ASEAN Member States and partners and providing technical and administrative support to relevant meetings.
  • Facilitate requests from ASEAN Member States by preparing and maintaining data records and providing information on specific issues as requested.

Requirements

  • Advance degree in Economics, International Trade or Economic Law, Development Studies, International Relations or an appropriate related field; or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience in technical role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and policy, research and technical skills in the relevant area and ability to acquire them.
  • Proven skills in problem solving in a complex organisational environment and in work planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and review policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and workflows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
  • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, as well as other technological tools to support the work of the Division.
  • Sound command of English, written and spoken.
