Blood Collection Staff - Customer Service

The Blood Collection Staff assists with every step of the blood collection process including setting up equipment, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and following safety procedures to collect lifesaving blood donations. Paid phlebotomy training is provided with opportunities to grow healthcare skills within the American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Utilize healthcare and customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process
• Collaborate with team to transport and setup equipment at collection sites
• Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors
• Follow all safety procedures while collecting blood donations
• Drive Red Cross vehicles as needed
• Setup and tear down equipment at donation sites
• Work variable schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays
• May require overnight travel in some locations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
• A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs
• Good manual dexterity required
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is required
• Position may require minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles
• Basic computer skills are required
• Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications
• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.) is preferred
• Prior leadership experience is preferred
